Can we say rude!

July 20th, 2009 Posted by ccoile | Are You Serious, Soapbox | 8 comments

First I must apologize for not posting in a while! I’ve been out of town for the past two weekends blah, blah! excuses, excuses!

Anyway, this weekend we visited some family members in Savannah, Georgia (it was absolutely beautiful, we’ll talk about that in another post). On my way back… on my flight from Jacksonville to Houston I had the rudest flight attendent.

I must say flight attendents have always been the nicest and most kind folks I have ever met and ALWAYS, ALWAYS friendly.  Not this guy! He had a chip on his shoulder and wasn’t happy to be at work.

Long story short when he was picking up our airplane snack leftovers for the trash… he spilled the stuff all over me (accidents happen… I wouldn’t have minded that), but this guy NEVER said I’m sorry or even tried to help us. Moments later I tapped him on the back to throw something else away and he snapped at me. What happened to customer service?  I’ll be giving his boss a call tomorrow!

Any good or bad experiences on a flight?

Cell phones disruptions

May 13th, 2009 Posted by ccoile | Are You Serious, Soapbox | 5 comments

Twice in less than a week cell phones have gone off around me in places where they should have been put on silent!

cellphone

Last Sunday at church I’m trying to listen to the preacher, but a lady at the end of the aisle was texting. The worst part… I could hear every time she punched a button. Who does that in church? Can’t we be without our cell phones for an hour?

Even if it was an emergency she should have stepped outside instead of disrupting everyone around her.

Another situation, just three days later… I was at an event… as we were praying a ladies phone goes off. By the time the lady was able to get to her phone someone had left her a message and this loud message ring goes off.

I understand accidents happen, but if you don’t know how to turn your cell phone on silent I think it’s probably best you leave it in the car.

Do you agree? Is anyone on the same page as me?

Children Registering for B-day Gifts…

April 28th, 2009 Posted by ccoile | Soapbox | 7 comments

I’m noticing some parents are now letting their kids register for birthday gifts.  At places like Toys “R” Us you can create a wish list.

What do you think? Is it appropriate to let children register for b-day gifts? or is it tacky?

Do Stars Deserve It?

March 31st, 2009 Posted by ccoile | Soapbox | 7 comments

I was watching ‘The View’ this morning and the ladies were talking about whether celebrities deserve everything they get.

Meaning… no privacy, being stalked by paparazzi, etc.

I just ran across an article where Miley Cyrus said “if I had known coming into this that I would have all those photographers outside my house I might have given it a second thought.”

What do you think? Do stars deserve everything they get?

Some people just burn my butt…

Our car got broken into in Houston on Thursday evening. Some idiot, crackhead busted a window and stole two laptops (mine and Patrick’s). I’m still a little aggravated in case you can’t tell!

He/She probably pawned it moments later to get money for their next fix. What’s wrong with people?

I just don’t understand why people have to steal? I mean, I have a job… I buy my own things… why can’t they?

Wife Swap… OMG!

January 31st, 2009 Posted by ccoile | Soapbox | 10 comments

Did anyone catch Friday night’s episode of Wife Swap on ABC?

The British husband was such a jerk! He was so rude to the poor woman. He told his kids not to speak to her and talked about how stupid and uneducated Americans are. He even degraded our military men and women.

He may need to think about taking his butt back to England!

Earn an A? Here’s $50 Bucks!

Saw a story on Good Morning America about schools paying students to make good grades. It’s supposed to encourage kids to stay in school and do well while they’re there.

For example in several Chicago Public Schools a freshman get $50 for an A, a B equals $35 and a C equals $20. Kids get half the money up front and the other half when they graduate.

Critics say bribing students to get good grades isn’t the right way to teach them a lesson. What do you think?

Is this right?

Forwarded Emails

August 28th, 2008 Posted by ccoile | Soapbox | 15 comments

9 out of 10 times when I get forwarded emails I just delete them. But you know what aggravates me… when I get a forward that says if you believe in God you’ll forward this to 10 people. I’m sorry, but I don’t think God is looking down and waiting for me to push that attach button and send the email to 10 people. Or when it says if you don’t send this email to 10 friends you’ll have bad luck for 7 years. I never send them to my friends and so far I haven’t had bad luck.

Thoughts? Do you forward emails? If so, which kind? Shall we start a list of email forwarding etiquette?

Random Thoughts…

I had the day off on Friday, so I made a quick trip to Lafayette to see a friend who was in town from Birmingham, Alabama. I spent less than 24 hours in Cajun Country but it was so worth it. Before I left Lafayette on Friday I stopped by my favorite sushi restaurant and picked up a crunchy roll to eat on the road. Ever tried eating sushi, driving on the interstate and working your radio? If not, I wouldn’t suggest you trying it!

Speaking of my trip … why do people who are driving slow on the interstate stay in the left lane? Isn’t that what the right lane is made for?

You know what else really burns my butt?  When I’m on a road trip and listening to one of my favorite CD’s, that I only put in when I’m driving long distances, and my favorite song skips the entire time. Leaving me singing by myself! Believe me, it doesn’t sound good!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Oops, I Forgot…

Not once but twice in the same day… a restaurant failed to give us what we ordered and we didn’t realize until we got home! Talk about aggravating! Monday, Patrick picked up turkey sandwiches for us for lunch. He didn’t check the bag before he left, when he got home we only had one turkey sandwich. So we had to just split it. I was livid! Not to be selfish but I wanted my own sandwich.

Then for dinner, we picked up salads from Chili’s… we do it often when we don’t feel like cooking. We get home, sit down to watch the LSU game and eat our salads… needless to say, they forgot to put the dressing that went with my Southwest Cobb Salad in the bag. I can’t eat a dry salad. I mean, the dressing is the good part!

Point of the story–from now on I will check my bag before I leave a restaurant!
