U.S. researchers estimate that an 18 percent tax on pizza and soda can push down U.S. adults’ calorie intake enough to lower their average weight by 5 pounds per year.
The researchers, writing in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine, suggested taxing could be used as a weapon in the fight against obesity. Two-thirds of American are overweight or obese, according to the article.
I want to hear your thoughts. Do you think tax on soda and fatty foods, like pizza actually make Americans healthier?
There was a bacon festival in Iowa this weekend. Apparently, they served up everything from bacon ice cream to chocolate chunk cookies with bacon. Ugh!
Sound tasty? I don’t know about you, but I think I’m going to stick to just eating bacon with my eggs!
Hey Folks! I know, I know it’s been a LONG time since I posted! My apologies!
I wanted to share with you one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. My mom and I watched “The Blind Side” the other night. It was a great flick!
I’m sure you all know the story line, but for those of you who don’t…. it’s based on a true story and is about the life of Michael Oher, a homeless youngster who was taken in by a well-to-do family who helped him fullfil his potential.
In my opinion it was one of Sandra Bullocks best performances and Tim McGraw also did a fine job! I give this movie a 10!
Thoughts on “The Blind Side”? Seen any other good movies lately?
Hi! I know it’s t been a while since I’ve posted! I’m sorry to abandoned y’all!
Anywho! How’s everyone doing? Anyone do anything exciting this weekend? The weather was beautiful!
Have you been following the case of Jaycee Dugard? She’s the little girl who was kidnapped almost two decades ago and found last week. Apparently authorities missed several opportunities to check out his house. What type of punishment are you thinking “Creepy Phil” deserves (that’s what the neighborhood kids called the man who was holding her captive and fathered her two children)
Here’s something else to chew on… a new study suggests women are less likely to buy something from a very attractive saleswoman than a less attractive saleswoman? Ladies, thoughts?
Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend (despite the downpour on Saturday)! Did you do anything exciting this weekend?
I just ran across a study that caught my eye. Research shows that many more Americans nap than previously thought.
I’m not one of them! Every once and a while I’ll take a power nap, but not often. I don’t have time to nap! Between working, running errands and playing a wedding… there’s just no time!!
Apparently sleeping for 20-30 minutes can improve your mood!! Are you one of the many Americans who nap regularly?? If so, when? I need some pointers!
I’ll never forget the first time I visited Lafayette, LA I fell in love with it! I loved the culture and the people were so kind, the food was the best I had ever tasted, and I can’t forget to mention the nightlife was incredible! I immediately knew that’s where I wanted to spend the next four years of my life.
So, I packed up my bags and headed out!
I met my some of my best friends at UL Lafayette, cheered on the Cajuns from the sidelines and joined a sorority! I didn’t miss out on anything! I enjoyed ever minute of my time in Cajun Country! I could go on and on about my college days!
But I want to know… How you decided which college you were going to attend? Was it the nightlife? Academics? Scholarships? extracurricular activities or friends?
By the way the Princeton Review just released its list of top party schools (sorry all you LSU fans… you didn’t make the list).
Penn State was the #1 party school… and coming in at #19 was Tulane University!
First I must apologize for not posting in a while! I’ve been out of town for the past two weekends blah, blah! excuses, excuses!
Anyway, this weekend we visited some family members in Savannah, Georgia (it was absolutely beautiful, we’ll talk about that in another post). On my way back… on my flight from Jacksonville to Houston I had the rudest flight attendent.
I must say flight attendents have always been the nicest and most kind folks I have ever met and ALWAYS, ALWAYS friendly. Not this guy! He had a chip on his shoulder and wasn’t happy to be at work.
Long story short when he was picking up our airplane snack leftovers for the trash… he spilled the stuff all over me (accidents happen… I wouldn’t have minded that), but this guy NEVER said I’m sorry or even tried to help us. Moments later I tapped him on the back to throw something else away and he snapped at me. What happened to customer service? I’ll be giving his boss a call tomorrow!
Hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July holiday. Much of the KTBS staff spent our holiday at the Independence Day Celebration. Did you catch it? What did you think? I must say I was really impressed with the fireworks show. It was one of the best I’ve ever seen.
Something else on my mind…. Sarah Palin’s surprise resignation. Thoughts? What do you think is her next move??
Also, I heard this over and over this weekend… people telling me they’re tired of hearing about Michael Jackson. How about you? Are you still interested or do you turn the channel?
Is it safe to have a glass of wine while breastfeeding? How about two glasses??
I just read an article about a 26 year old mother who pleaded guilty to child neglect for breast feeding while intoxicated. I promise I’m not making this stuff up!
Apparently neighbors called the police when they saw the mother slurring her speech and breast feeding her six-week old baby.
