Twins!

All the rainfall made for a busy day here at KTBS. On rainy days you’ll find most of us in jeans and hats with our raincoats nearby. As I looked in the cubical behind me I noticed my friend Sonja (http://www.sonjabailes.com/) and I were dressed the exact same.

I guess great minds really do think alike!!

Whata Night!

What started off to be a good night quickly turned into a disaster. I cooked dinner and me and Patrick were watching a movie when all of the sudden we hear water dripping. A vent in the living room was dripping rainwater. We fixed it. No big deal. Then, we go to the back of the house and see our extra bathroom and guest bedroom is full of water. Apparently, the gutter in the front yard clogged up and backed up into our flowerbed. So that water was coming through the walls and into the house. Whata mess! Patrick ran outside and started breaking the brick on our flowerbed with a sledgehammer so the water would stop coming in the house.

Oh yea, did I mention part of our backyard is full of water. Our pier, as you can see, is underwater.

10 Years Later!

This weekend, myself along with lots of other Benton High School Class of ‘98 graduates celebrated our 10 year reunion. I know, I know, I’m revealing my age! It was a really good time. I had a chance to catch up with several people I haven’t talked to since graduation. Lots of our conversations consisted of “remember when…..”!  It was nice reflecting on the memories and good ole days when I didn’t have bills to pay. In fact, the only thing I had to worry about was which cheerleading uniform we were wearing to the next football game or who was going with who to Prom!

It was neat to catch up with everyone and see who’s where and doing what… and who’s changed and who looks the exact same.

Did you go to your class reunion? Any interesting high school memories?

Happy Mother’s Day!

I wanted to take an opportunity on this very special day to introduce you all to my mother/best friend Jackie. I must say she’s one of a kind. Always making me and my brother Jason her top priority.  I can honestly say I’ve never done without. I tell her thank you all the time but there is no way I could ever really thank her enough for all she does for me.

For instance, last weekend I was hosting a shower at my house and didn’t have time to fix the flowerbed (it was bad) in the front yard before everyone came over. So when I got home from work she was in my front yard planting flowers, moving around shrubs, and raking leaves. Did I mention the night before she came over and helped me clean the house from top to bottom.  Yea. She’s the best!

Happy Mother’s Day Mom. Love you.

Early Morning Flight

Talk about a way to start the day! This morning me and photographer Casey Habich had a chance to fly with the Aeroshell Aerobatics Team. Talk about fun. The four member team is one of the many high flying acts you can see this weekend at the air show. We’ll post some cool video a little later.

Drinking on a Field Trip

www.beijingboyce.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/…I saw this story on Fox News yesterday morning and wanted to see what you guys think about it.

A teacher in Minnesota sent home permission slips to allow underage students to drink alcohol on a class trip to Spain. Remember, teenagers CAN drink alcohol in Spain. The teacher said she would tolerate only responsible drink and that getting drunk would not be allowed.
Personally, I don’t think anything is wrong with it. I think it’s all about taking in the culture of the country.

What are your thoughts?

Illegal Immigrants

illegals.jpgMore and more illegals are making their way to the Sportsman’s Paradise but they’re finding out it’s not such a paradise. Bossier Parish is leading the way in deportations in the state. In fact, over the past month they’ve deported nearly two dozen illegal immigrants. Lt. Ed Baswell says “they’re leaving their mother country to find work here.”

I had a chance to speak to one of the illegal immigrants arrested. Jorge Castor told me he’s been living here four years. He’s been working for a construction company building homes. When I asked him why Louisiana he responded “freedom, money, a better way of life.”  Click here to see story.

What are your thoughts on illegal immigrants?

Goodbye Perrilloux

lsu.jpg

LSU’s Ryan Perrilloux got the boot. Finally! He apparently failed a drug test which was the final straw for Coach Les Miles. Since he got to LSU Perrilloux has had legal and disciplinary problems including counterfeiting charges, trying to use a false ID at a casino… the list goes on and on. He missed team meetings and classes. To me it seems like he was more trouble than he was worth. Who does he think he is! How does one of the most sought-after quarterback prospects in the country end up like this?  Where do you think he’ll end up?
